Certification against the UNI CEI EN ISO 50001 standard is performed by highly qualified personnel that evaluates in detail whether a company has correctly identified every energy-saving opportunity in order to reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions to the maximum.

Framework

Energy represents an increasingly considerable cost to private and public organisations, and fluctuations in energy prices have become a factor of instability for many industries. In addition, the cost of energy in Italy is well above the mean average of that of other countries. In this context, it is vital to effectively manage energy consumption and keep it under control in order to remain highly competitive in an increasingly complex market.
At the regulatory level, the European Energy Efficiency Directive and recent national and international technical standards embody a constantly changing legal environment. This trend includes the Italian ministerial decree of 28 Dec. 2012 that grants ISO 50001-certified companies direct access to the white certificates scheme and the European directive, which organises incentives to promote such systems both with SMEs and energy-intensive companies.

The Certification Process

  • application for certification;
  • acceptance of Certiquality’s offer;
  • performance of a preliminary audit (optional);
  • performance of a certification audit (in two stages);
  • management of any identified deficiencies;
  • deliberation by the Certiquality Technical Commission;
  • surveillance audits.
